Espen Sommer Eides Karusell is an installation shown first in the exhibition Absorpsjon og resonans – NOTAMs exhibition of sound art at Henie Onstad Kunstsenter, from 20. November 2008 til 25. January 2009. It was later also shown at the new music festival "Happy Nordic Music Days" at Norsk Folkemuseum.
The central object of the installation is a vintage playground merry-go-round. The circular motion controls the sound of re-arranged norwegian fiddle music played in a quadrophonic setup. An original connection between sound and motion creates a new form of "surround-a-bout".
Camille Norments text about the installation can be read here.
